“Landmines in the liberated areas are a very serious humanitarian threat, there are losses,” said Deputy Chairman of ANAMA's Management Board Samir Poladov at the National Urban Forum, APA reports.

According to him, after international pressures, although the Armenian side provided landmine maps, 25 percent of them are accurate, while 75 percent are useless: “Actually, it is not even a map, they are figures noted by Armenian servicemen and inaccurate.”

According to deputy chairman, over the past two years, there were numerous losses in landmine explosions: “There are 39,0709 pieces of anti-personnel and anti-tank mines and unexploded ordnance, which is not entirely accurate. From November 20, 2020, until today, 257 people were landmine victims, 44 people died, 213 were injured. So far, 54 841 hectares of area were cleared. 2 575 anti-personnel, and 12 547 anti-tank mines were found. The plan for 2022, is 40 000 hectares. Of this, 8 thousand hectares are residential areas. However, our purpose is to develop an annual plan, by involving external resources and to increase the area to be cleared of mines to 65 thousand hectares.
