Turkey on Monday issued a diplomatic note to Iceland condemning the country's maltreatment of its national soccer team players.

Turkey's soccer team bound from the central Konya province were made to wait approximately two hours at passport control at Iceland's Kevlafik International Airport.

Additionally, one of the reporters held up a toilet brush resembling a microphone to footballer Emre Belözoğlu.

"What was done to our players is basically an act of violence. Iceland's authorities must apologize for this 'primitive' treatment, and take steps to reemedy this folly," spokesman for Turkey's ruling Justice and Development (AK) Party Ömer Çelik wrote on Twitter Monday.
