The US refusal to discuss the issue of space weapons indicates the desire to create orbital strike systems, EDNews.netb report citing Bulgarian Military News.
Such an assessment was made by the diplomat in connection with the US accusation that Russia had tested an anti-satellite missile. Ryabkov emphasized that American colleagues ignored all the proposals of the Russian side to create a single international legal framework governing space weapons.
“If the United States rejects this offer, the natural conclusion that we draw is that they have taken the course towards creating shock systems for deployment in outer space. There is no other logical conclusion from their position of denial,” the official said.
According to him, the United States “made it a rule to demagogically challenge the justification of our idea” to impose on the states a political obligation not to place weapons first in space. The Russian side calls on its colleagues to discuss, provided that their attitude to the issue is serious.
“To exchange rhetorical reproaches, to find some reasons, pretexts, clues in order to promote their own propaganda, which many have already been very tired of, probably should not be in this situation,” Ryabkov summed up.
Recall, on April 15, the press service of the US space command said that they were aware of Russia’s tests of direct-to-flight anti-satellite missiles. The agency said that this weapon is capable of shooting down satellites in low Earth orbits.
