Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said Tuesday he agreed with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that they will make tenacious diplomatic efforts to ease tensions over Russia, NIKKEA Asian news reports.
Speaking to reporters after their phone conversation, Kishida said Japan supports Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity, amid fears of a possible Russian invasion of the Eastern European nation.
He also said Japan will take "appropriate" action in dealing with the situation surrounding Ukraine, while cooperating with the Group of Seven industrialized nations.
