Japan and the European Union have adopted a joint declaration on the launch of a digital partnership following a summit in Tokyo today, said Ursula von der Leyen, European Commission (EC) President in a joint press conference with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and EU Council President Charles Michel, TASS reports.
"At this summit, we have taken a number of important steps. First of all, the EU and Japan are starting a digital partnership, ”she said.
This is the EU's first such partnership with any country in the world. According to the head of the EC, the agreement should reveal the potential for cooperation in this area and help ensure a successful transition to digitalization, which will lead to prosperity and sustainable development.
