Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of France, Catherine Colonna, who is on a visit to Yerevan, went to the Armenian-Azerbaijan border, Ednews reports citing armenpress.
Minister Foreign Affairs Colonna got acquainted with the work of the Civilian Mission of the European Union (EU).
"This work brings us positive results. Thanks to the monitoring activity, it provides the EU member states with the opportunity to obtain the useful information from spot. This is a observation mission, not an armed one, the goal is simply to monitor the situation, but in any case, this presence allows to de-escalate the tension. In order to build trust, a ceasefire between Armenia and Azerbaijan should be observed," French Minister noted.
Chief of the General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces, Edward Asryan informed the French FM about the situation on the border.
