Russia blasts Japan over nuclear threat comments

Russia's foreign ministry criticized Japan accusing the country of engaging in "cynic imposed additional sanctions related to Russia's invasion of Ukraine and condemned the country over its alleged nuclear threat, EDnews informs via Teletrader.

The ministry deemed the punitive measures "illegitimate actions" by Japan, further taking issue with Japanese Chief Cabinet Secretary Hirokazu Matsuno's (pictured) characterization of their actions.

Matsuno on Friday strongly criticized the signing of a deal between Russia and Belarus, which formalized the deployment of Moscow's tactical nuclear weapons within Belarusian territory, describing the move as a significant escalation of tensions.
