The number of people whose lives were claimed in a train collision in Balasore, India, increased to 288, Odisha Fire Services head Sudhanshu Sarangi confirmed, Ednews reports.
Meanwhile, the state's chief secretary Pradeep Jena said that seven units of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), five of the Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF), 24 of the Fire Services, and numerous policemen and volunteers are participating in search and rescue.
The accident took place when a train in movement hit two other trains derailed near the railway station in Balasore.
