Spanish Deputy Trade Minister Xiana Mendez (pictured) expressed her belief on Friday, at a meeting of trade ministers in Valencia, that the European Union and the United States will be able to reach a deal on steel by the end of 2023.
In addition, Mendez mentioned that the bloc is also looking to enter into a free trade agreement with India should that assist the EU with getting real access to the country's markets.
During his presidency, former US President Donald Trump introduced tariffs on metal imports coming from Europe. In response, the EU launched rebalancing measures. Back in 2021, however, both sides decided to suspend these decisions. The bloc is now hoping that Washington will end the measures for good.
