Russia and India started joint naval drills in the Bay of Bengal, the Russian Pacific Fleet announced on Tuesday. The two-day exercise aims to strengthen the coordination between the two navies and improve their ability to "jointly counter global threats and ensure the safety of civil shipping in the Asia-Pacific region."
"During the exercise, sailors from the two countries carry out joint maneuvering as part of various formations and conduct training in air defense and communications. In practice, it is planned to practice replenishment of supplies on the move, and the joint use of deck-based helicopters," the Pacific Fleet said in a statement.
