Armenia and Russia are negotiating the construction of new nuclear power plants in the country, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk said at the intergovernmental commission meeting held in Yerevan, Ednews informs, citing Sputnik Armenia.
He called the use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes a critical issue on the agenda of bilateral relations.
The Deputy Prime Minister of Russia thanked the Armenian side for choosing the Russian company to carry out work on the extension of the operation period of the Metsamor Nuclear Power Plant.
