Spain opposes the idea of sending military troops from any European Union country to Ukraine, presented by French President Emmanuel Macron, Spanish Government Spokeswoman Pilar Alegria (pictured) said in a press briefing on Tuesday.
"We have to focus on what is urgent, which is to accelerate the delivery of the [military] material" to Kiev, Alegria noted, adding that "unity is Europe's most effective weapon" against Russia and its President Vladimir Putin.
Previously, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg assured that the alliance has no plans to send its troops to Ukraine, while Moscow warned that a potential deployment of NATO ground forces to Ukraine would mean a declaration of war.
