Ruben Vardanyan, who was the "minister of state" of the former separatist regime in Karabakh, was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize "for his charitable and humanitarian activities", Ednews reports via news.am.
The candidacy of the Armenian billionaire, who is currently in prison in Baku, was nominated by several people.
It should be recalled that in September 2022, Vardanyan renounced his Russian citizenship and announced that he was moving to Karabakh. He became the "Minister of State" on November 4, 2022. On February 23, 2023, he was released from this job under the pressure of Azerbaijan. However, he remained in Karabakh and continued his separatist activities.
8 days after the anti-terrorist operation held on September 19, he was caught and arrested by the State Security Service in Lachin district while trying to escape from Karabakh.
