Philippines officials said on Thursday that a tanker carrying around 1.4 million liters of industrial fuel oil sank off the country's coast. The tanker was Philippine-flagged and capsized near the capital of Manila, Ednews reports.
Philippine Transport Secretary Jaime Bautista said 16 crew members have been rescued while one is missing. Authorities are working to contain the oil spill. It is currently unclear whether the incident is related to typhoon Gaemi, which has killed at least 13 people in the Philippines.
