Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez on Tuesday declined to testify as a witness in the case of alleged influence peddling and corruption in business against his wife Begona Gomez, as Spanish law allows individuals not to testify in cases involving close family members, including spouses.
The legal coordinator of the right-wing political party Vox, Marta Castro, who witnessed the hearing at the Moncloa Palace, told reporters that Sanchez was "undaunted and haughty."
On July 19, Begona Gomez also refused to testify before the judge investigating the case, Juan Carlos Peindao, after her lawyers recommended her to do so.
