Hours after Venezuela declared the Presidential election results, it announced to snap diplomatic ties with at least seven countries amid allegations of widespread fraud in the polls.
Venezuelan Foreign Affairs Minister Yvan Gil on Tuesday announced that the Venezuelan government has decided to sever diplomatic relations with 7 countries, Ednews informs.
As of writing this article, at least nine countries echoed their protest against the results and called to withdraw their diplomats from Caracas. Venezuela's foreign ministry asked diplomats of Argentina, Chile, Costa Rica, Peru, Panama, the Dominican Republic, and Uruguay to withdraw immediately.
"The Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela has decided to sever diplomatic relations on the basis of Article 45 of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations of 1961," Gil said on X.
