In the Nigerian capital of Abuja, police resorted to using tear gas to disperse protesters who took to the streets to express their discontent over the country's economic woes, Ednews informs via The Guardian.
A large crowd of demonstrators gathered at the capital's main square, voicing their frustrations over "poor governance", economic hardships, and widespread hunger. They were met by a substantial contingent of police and military personnel.
According to the newspaper, the security forces requested the protesters to leave the area and move towards the National Stadium, but their refusal led to the deployment of tear gas.
