As of August 1, 3,961 people went missing due to Armenia's military aggression against Azerbaijan, the State Commission on Prisoners of War, Hostages and Missing Persons said in a statement, Ednews informs.
Some 3,953 of them went missing in the First Karabakh War, and 8 went missing in the Patriotic War and the subsequent period. The ongoing appeals suggest that this will not be the final statistic. According to the commission, the analysis of numerous appeals received after the historic victory in the Patriotic War shows that several persons missing in the First Karabakh War due to Armenia’s military aggression against Azerbaijan were not included in the relevant lists.
“Taking into account the above, the State Commission asks families of missing persons who have not been registered and have not provided DNA samples of their relatives, as well as citizens who have information about missing persons, to contact the working group under the commission in a short period of time and provide information about their missing relatives and DNA samples,” reads the statement.
