A family in Abbotsford, B.C. got a rude awakening Sunday morning when a stranger crashed through their window in what police believe was a drug-induced state.
The couple and their young child were enjoying their morning together in the living room of their ground-floor apartment on Langdon Street. At around 8 a.m., a man who the family says they’ve never met or seen before came crashing through the bedroom window, immediately suffering lacerations from the broken glass.
When police arrived, they found the man in the bathroom bleeding from his injuries. He was taken to hospital with severe cuts to his arms, legs, hands and face. The injuries are non-life threatening.
The family fled the apartment immediately after the man broke in. Police say they are recovering but still in shock from the incident.
“The family is shaken, they’re definitely traumatized,” said Staff Sgt. Rick Stewart of the Abbotsford Police. “Not how they wanted to spend their Sunday morning, but they’ll be alright.”
Stewart said the man does not have any connection to the apartment building. He said there’s reason to believe the situation was “drug-induced.”
