United Kingdom Foreign Secretary David Cameron stressed on Sunday that this week's military action in Yemen sent a "very clear message" that Washington, London, as well as other Western nations, are ready to "take action backing their words" and added that Houthis received "warning after warning" before it was decided to strike the group's targets in Yemen.
During his participation in the weekend program "Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg" on BBC Cameron pointed out that Houthis continuous attacks on commercial vessels in the Red Sea left London and its allies with little choice but to take action, accusing the Yemeni rebel group of being responsible for the escalation. Cameron also underscored that he believes it would not have been the right decision to consult the Parliament before taking action in Yemen due to operational security reasons.
The British foreign minister also disclosed that he held a telephone conversation with his Iranian counterpart, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, during which Cameron condemned the recent actions taken by Iranian-backed groups in the Middle East, and called Houthis' attacks "unacceptable" and "illegal."
