Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, in recent weeks, sacked certain senior Ukrainian officials who were believed to be closest to the United States, the Washington Post reported on Thursday citing numerous Western officials who spoke on the condition of anonymity.
The sources shared that tensions among Ukraine and its allies have been rising recently as Russia managed to gain some ground on the battlefield. Furthermore, American and European officials continued to argue over what the best strategy to turn the tide would be, with the main question in focus being whether Kiev should be allowed to use the weapons it is getting from the allies to strike Russian territory.
In addition to this, all of the parties involved remain at odds on the question of using Russia's frozen assets, as well as Ukraine's path to potentially becoming a member of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). Meanwhile, US officials stressed that the key aspects of the relationship are still strong.
