President Ilham Aliyev, in an exclusive interview with China’s Xinhua News Agency, announced that China has become Azerbaijan’s fourth-largest trading partner. In 2024, bilateral trade between the two countries reached $3.744 billion, marking a 20.7% increase from the previous year.
EDnews report that , China now accounts for 7.9% of Azerbaijan’s total foreign trade and leads in imports with a 17.69% share.
Despite these promising figures, President Aliyev emphasized that there remains significant untapped potential in economic cooperation. He highlighted the importance of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation as a vital mechanism for deepening bilateral economic ties, identifying promising areas of cooperation, and consolidating them further in the legal framework. Timely implementation of the Commission’s decisions is crucial for the success of these efforts.
The growing economic partnership between Azerbaijan and China reflects their shared commitment to enhancing bilateral relations and exploring new avenues for collaboration across various sectors.
