Press Statements by the President of Azerbaijan and the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam May 7.On May 7, President Ilham Aliyev and General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam To Lam delivered statements to the media during the latter’s official visit to Azerbaijan.

According to EDnews President Aliyev welcomed Mr. To Lam and emphasized the importance of his visit in strengthening bilateral ties. He highlighted the signing of the Joint Declaration on Strategic Partnership as a major step that takes relations between the two countries to a new level. 

The President stressed the potential for joint ventures, especially in renewable energy, and expressed gratitude for Vietnam’s support in international platforms like the UN and the Non-Aligned Movement. He reaffirmed Azerbaijan’s commitment to international law and peaceful dispute resolution.

General Secretary To Lam thanked President Aliyev for the warm reception and acknowledged the high value placed on Vietnam-Azerbaijan relations. He noted that this was the first visit to Azerbaijan by a General Secretary of the Vietnamese Communist Party since diplomatic ties were established.

To Lam called for expanded cooperation across all sectors, including political, economic, defense, education, and cultural exchange. He also stressed the importance of upholding peace, international law, and mutual support in global forums. Mr. To Lam expressed confidence that the visit would open a new chapter in the relationship between the two nations.
