Officials in Trumbull County in the US have confirmed that six people were killed in a plane that crashed June 29 morning, EDnews reports, citing Fox 8.
According to officials during a press conference at 5 p.m. (GMT-4) on June 29, the cause of the crash is still unclear at this time. It is confirmed that two crew members and four passengers were on board.
Officials also confirmed the plane crashed in a heavily wooded area just 7 minutes after takeoff.
The FOX 8 I-Team also obtained 911 calls shedding new light on the crash. One caller said he heard a “huge crash.”
The Ohio State Highway Patrol said a twin-engine plane went down in Howland Township near King Graves Road.
“I was just sitting outside having coffee, and I heard a plane that sounded odd,” one man told a Trumbull County 911 dispatcher. “Now I am seeing a huge amount of smoke.”
The crash happened near the Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport.
“There was a big bang. I don’t know what it was,” another 911 caller said.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol confirmed they are on the scene of a plane crash between Spring Run Road and King Graves Road NE in Howland Township.
The patrol added that a twin-engine plane crashed at approximately 7 a.m. on Sunday. NTSB and the FAA were also notified.
