The Tashkent City Administration has signed a series of agreements with Azerbaijani companies totaling $400 million, according to Deputy Mayor Sharof Rakhmanov's interview with Uzbekiston 24, EDnews reports, citing UZ Daily.
Rakhmanov noted that the foundation for this cooperation was laid during the official visit of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to Uzbekistan last year. At that time, a memorandum of partnership was signed between the Tashkent city administration and the Baku mayor’s office, which included a roadmap and a joint action plan.
As part of the current visit, six new agreements were signed in the services sector. These major projects include the construction of a five-star hotel, a residential district, and a retail and entertainment complex in Tashkent, along with the launch of a hospitality network featuring hotels, restaurants, and cafes with Azerbaijani investment.
The Deputy Mayor also highlighted the strategic importance of building a “Uzbekistan Park” in the Azerbaijani capital. In a reciprocal gesture, a “Azerbaijan Park” is planned for Tashkent. The presidents of both countries have reviewed the concepts of the future parks and instructed stakeholders to expedite the implementation process.
On July 2, 2025, Presidents Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Ilham Aliyev officially launched construction of Uzbekistan Park in Baku. The US$80 million project will cover 4.5 hectares and feature reconstructions of historic landmarks from Bukhara, Samarkand, and Khiva. The project is scheduled to be completed within two years, following all procedural steps. The park’s concept was presented by entrepreneur Jahongir Artikhodjaev.
