Pakistan is one of the countries vulnerable to the consequences of climate change, Pakistan's Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif said at the 17th summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) in Khankendi, EDnews reports.
Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif expressed satisfaction with the summit's theme, considering it timely and extremely important.
"ECO member countries, like the rest of the world, face far-reaching consequences of climate change, such as melting glaciers, desertification, abnormal heat, devastating floods, and declining agricultural productivity. These problems threaten food security and livelihoods of millions of our people. Pakistan still remains among the top ten countries most vulnerable to climate change," Sharif noted.
According to him, Pakistan unfortunately often faces large-scale floods.
"Just last week, several people tragically died in the affected areas of Pakistan. For my country and many others, the issue of climate change and its consequences is of great importance," the Prime Minister emphasized.
