Vaccines imported to Azerbaijan meet the safety and effectiveness standards of the World Health Organization (WHO).
EDnews informs that this was reported by Afag Aliyeva, Deputy Director of the Republican Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology of the Ministry of Health. She clarified the issue of vaccination of premature or low-birth-weight babies:
Children born prematurely receive fewer protective antibodies from their mothers. As a result of the faster excretion of antibodies from their bodies, these children have a lower level of protection against infectious diseases and the likelihood of contracting infectious diseases increases. Therefore, premature or low-birth-weight babies can be vaccinated according to the preventive vaccination schedule on the basis of a pediatrician's prescription.A. Aliyeva recalled that since 2014, vaccines have been imported to Azerbaijan by the Ministry of Health through UNICEF.
