Scientists from Yale University in the US have made a discovery that could change the approach to vaccination against respiratory diseases. They have developed a new vaccination strategy that combines traditional injections with nasal administration of the drug.
“EDnews” reports that the study was published in the scientific journal “Nature Immunology”.
The new method, called “Prime end Spike”, involves first administering the mRNA vaccine intramuscularly, followed by the use of a nasal spray containing the virus’s spike protein. It is important to note that the nasal component does not contain any excipients that could cause side effects. Test results showed that this approach causes a strong immune response in the respiratory tract, where the virus initially penetrates.

Repeated nasal administration of the drug further strengthened the immune response.
