A prominent photographer, National Geographic Researcher and Chief Specialist of Ashoka Foundation Reza Degati was a guest of Eurasia Diary portal.
He is originally from Tabriz, Azerbaijan in Iran. Reza is one of the most outstanding photographers in the world. His photos wrap the covers of National Geographic, GEO, Time Photo and many other publications.
Deghati left Iran in 1979 after a revolution that brought radical Islamists to power.
Reza Deghati is a humanist photographer. His photos sheds light on human tragedy and conflict, as well as the beauty of humanity. In addition to photography, he is also involved in charitable activities. In 2001, he founded the AINA charity association, which deals with children's education.
In 2014, he wrote two books about Azerbaijan: "The Elegance of Fire" and "The Massacre of Infants" in connection with the events of Black January, the Nagorno-Karabakh war and the Khojaly massacre. He also opened an exhibition at the Petit Palais.
In his interview, Reza Deghati touched upon the sufferings of Azerbaijani people from Armenian occupation, Armenian vandalism in Karabakh region, and Armenian extremism and nationalism.
At the end of interview, Deghati said Azerbaijani people; "You had a dream over thirty years to return back your land. Name of Azerbaijan and Azerbaijani people will stay high and high in the team of the world. Now your dream can be reality."
