The United Arab Emirates and Bahrain will reopen its embassy in Damascus seven years after withdrawing its diplomatic representation from Syria.
The embassies of both states have been closed since 2011 when the Syrian civil war that has killed more than 400,000 people began.
CNN reports that UAE will reopen its embassy in Syria.
The move is intended to help restore relations between the two countries, the state-owned news agency WAM reported, citing a statement from the UAE's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
It added that "the UAE is looking forward to safety and security and stability" being restored in Syria.
Bahrain announced early Friday that it is reopening its embassy in Syria’s capital Damascus, Anadolu Agency writes.
The move follows a seven-year hiatus, the country’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement on its website.
Noting the keenness of Bahrain on the continuation of relations with Syria, the ministry said the Syrian embassy in Bahrain’s capital of Manama is also operational and flights between the two countries are set to resume.
