"There is an ongoing negotiation process between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan and Iran on the regulation of maritime zones in the Caspian Sea, while occasional meetings are being held, but issues have not been resolved yet."
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan for border and Caspian Sea issues, Khalaf Khalafov, told APA.
Mr Khalafov said that Azerbaijan will continue discussions with Turkmenistan and Iran in this direction.
The Convention on the legal status of the Caspian Sea was signed on 12 August 2018 by the presidents of Azerbaijan, Russia, Iran, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan. The convention allows the parties to define a roadmap for sharing resources.
