The fraternal nations of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan have always lived in peace and accord since ancient times,” President Sooronbai Jeenbekov said at the meeting with President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon in Isfara today, AkiPress reports.
President Jeenbekov described the today’s meeting as historic.
“The heads of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan have meet in border areas for the first time since the countries gained sovereignty. This happened due to the wise decision of Emomali Rahmon, who supported our suggestions,” President Jeenbekov stated.
The meeting will become a strong basis for continuation of the political dialogue and organization of the official visit to Kyrgyzstan, he added.
The border conflict recently unfortunately. It is necessary to jointly and impartially investigate it and adopt concrete measures to prevent recurrence of such situations in future, President Jeenbekov underlined.
“We suggest to step up the negotiation process and make it productive. It is important to continue Kyrgyz-Tajik border work,” he said.
Upon conclusion of the meeting in Isfara, the heads of state will arrive in Cholpon-Ata. The talks will be continued tomorrow. The Presidents will discuss bilateral cooperation issues, including Kyrgyz-Tajik border demarcation and delimitation.
