South Korean President Moon Jae-in expresses 'desperate need' for the development of relations with North Korea. He regrets the lack of progress last year and calls for fresh talks with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.
In his New Year's speech, Moon Jae-in promised to keep up work to facilitate communication between North Korea and the US.
"In a time of deadlock in US-North Korea talks - and where we are even concerned about a step backward in inter-Korean relations - we are in desperate need of practical ways to improve inter-Korean cooperation," he said.
South Korean leader says he is ready to meet with Kim Jon Un and he called for cooperation between North and South which could maintain prosperity and security in the peninsual.
