The Investigative Committee of Armenia submitted a petition for the arrest of Ani Gevorkyan, the wife of the brother of the Speaker of Parliament Alen Simonyan.
Ani Gevorkyan is involved in the same case in which former Deputy Minister of Economy Ani Ispiryan and the head of the department of public investment policy of the ministry Liliya Sirakanyan were detained, Ednews reports.
“A petition has been submitted for the arrest of seven people in this case,” the source noted.
Earlier, the Investigative Committee of Armenia announced the detention of 7 people after searches at the country's Ministry of Economy. These persons abused their official powers.
In particular, as part of the tender “Creation of a bank for public investment programs,” they entered into a conspiracy with the head of one of the companies, creating artificial obstacles to the participation of its competitor. As a result, the company that submitted an application three times more expensive (392 million drams - almost $100,000) won.
