The Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan has released information regarding the measures carried out by engineering divisions of the Azerbaijan Army in the territories liberated from occupation.
In total, an area of 36,000 hectares in the territories liberated from occupation have been cleared from landmines and unexploded ordnance by the engineer-sapper units, Ednews reports.
10,400 anti-personnel mines, 3,300 anti-tank mines, 11,850 unexploded ordnance were found.
After the Patriotic War, landmines have been planted in areas of 2 km deep along the 480 km of contact line, including 100 km from Buzlug heights to Lachin Mountain by the servicemen of the Armenian armed forces. The landmines in Garabagh Economic Region have been planted primarily in the directions of approaching the settlements and cemeteries, at the forested areas around Khojaly and Shusha, as well as on the highways.
