Press secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Aykhan Hajizade, commented on the views expressed by Armenia Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan at the meeting with the Armenian community in Munich, Ednews reports citing the Ministry.
Statement reads:
Regarding the opinion of the Prime Minister of Armenia that "the right of self-determination of Karabakh is not supported by the international community", the official of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that it seems that N. Pashinyan does not state that his claims against the territories of Azerbaijan are groundless, but that it is a foolish action to continue only because he is not supported by the international community:
"This indirectly proves that the claim of the Armenian side is still ongoing. In this regard, it is necessary to eliminate claims against our territorial integrity and sovereignty in the Constitution of Armenia and legislative acts.
The views of the Prime Minister of Armenia also show that the pressure of the international community is important to prevent Armenia from taking a position contrary to international law.
It is well known to everyone that the Armenian side allegedly violated the tripartite declaration of Azerbaijan, that there is no basis for this, namely, Armenia did not withdraw its armed forces from the territory of Azerbaijan, contrary to its obligations, and did not fulfill its obligation to open communication lines.
"The Armenian side should understand that the way to ensure peace and stability in the region is through the establishment of relations with neighboring countries based on the confirmation and respect of territorial integrity and sovereignty, and through direct constructive negotiations with Azerbaijan to establish peace."
