Agenda of International Conference on Islamophobia to be held in Baku announced

130 international guests, including scientists from 30 countries, experts of international organizations, religious figures, and representatives of non-governmental organizations, are expected to participate in the international scientific conference on "Embracing Diversity: Tackling Islamophobia in 2024" to be held in Baku on March 8-9 this year, Ednews informs.

The conference, organized by the Baku International Multiculturalism Centre and the Center of Analysis of International Relations, in partnership with the G20 Interfaith Dialogue Forum, commemorating the 2nd anniversary of the International Day to Combat Islamophobia, will bring together local experts on the subject, representatives of state agencies, religious community leaders and state officials.

Two plenary sessions will be held within the framework of the conference. Each panel is supposed to have 6-7 speakers.

Breakout sessions titled “Multiculturalism, Islam and the Clash of Civilisations Theory: Rethinking Islamophobia”, “Shaping Public Opinion: Digital Islamophobia”, and “Confronting Islamophobia in the Context of Higher Education” will be held within the plenary panel “Calling for Global Dialogue to Promote Tolerance, Peace, and Respect for Human Rights and Religious Diversity”.

Breakout sessions titled “Anti-Muslim policies in France: Normalizing Islamophobia”, “Deliberate Acts Of Destruction And Desecration Of Islamic Cultural And Religious Heritage in NonMuslim Countries”, “The Matrix of Gendered Islamophobia: Muslim Women’s Repression and Resistance, Gender and Society” within the plenary panel “Similarities and differences in the Treatment of Muslims across Western Europe, Basic Human Tights of the Muslim community”.

On March 10, the conference participants are scheduled to visit Shusha, which has been declared the cultural capital of the Islamic world in 2024.
