In an interesting prediction, an American expert has warned that the forthcoming EU-US-Armenia Conference scheduled for April 5 in Brussels could exacerbate instability and turmoil in the Southern Caucasus region, potentially heightening security concerns along Europe's eastern flanks.
Peter Tase, CEO and founder of the Azerbaijan-US Economic and Education Council, and representative of the International Eurasia Press Fund (IEPF) in the US, voiced his concerns in a statement to Ednews. Tase criticized Washington and Brussels for neglecting the importance of a lasting peace treaty between Yerevan and Baku, emphasizing that such an agreement is crucial for ensuring long-term economic prosperity and regional stability.
Highlighting the ongoing tensions between Armenia and Azerbaijan, Mr. Tase urged Azerbaijan's armed forces to maintain heightened vigilance along the international border. He criticized the EU and US governments for what he perceived as diplomatic efforts aimed at marginalizing Azerbaijan and the Turkic-speaking world, while failing to address Armenia's economic blockade against the Autonomous Republic of Nakhchivan.
Mr. Tase's remarks underscore the complexities and challenges facing diplomatic efforts in the region, particularly amid the backdrop of geopolitical shifts and ongoing conflicts. As the EU-US-Armenia meeting looms, his warnings serve as a reminder of the delicate balance required to navigate regional dynamics and promote sustainable peace and prosperity.
