As we reported, the International Court of Justice is hearing the case of Azerbaijan against Armenia in The Hague. Public hearings on the preliminary objections raised by Azerbaijan in the case related to the appeal of the Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (CERD) (Armenia v. Azerbaijan) were held yesterday.
Today, Armenia had to respond to Azerbaijan's claims in court. During the ongoing hearings, the Armenian side once again voiced baseless slanderous allegations against Azerbaijan.
President of the International Eurasia Press Fund, Umud Mirzayev, told Ednews that the claims of the Armenian side are completely absurd.
"The representative of Armenia on international legal issues, Yeghishe Kirakosyan, filed a lawsuit at the International Court of Justice and says that in 2020, Azerbaijan committed military aggression against Armenia, the aim of which was to erase and expel ethnic Armenians from their homeland. However, we have returned our lands. We have come out of our righteous war white-faced. These days, Armenian soldiers have often violated the ceasefire in the direction of Nakhichevan and Zangazur. After seven months of calm, this is the first time that such provocations have become a series. Why were the directions of Nakhichevan and Zangazur chosen for this? Because the separatist forces are trying to avoid peace by continuing the conflict and tension with Azerbaijan. In the hearings of the International Court of Justice held in The Hague, the baseless claims of the Armenian side of defamatory nature are attempts to confuse the international community. The invading Armenia, which ignores the norms and principles of international law and does not think about it, continues to create an "agenda" in the region with its continuous provocations. The recent actions prove this once again."
U. Mirzayev noted that Armenia and its patrons have hated Azerbaijan throughout history:
"They captured our people, tortured them and committed genocide. These facts are another manifestation of Armenia's aggressive policy and merciless treatment against Azerbaijanis. If international pressure is put on Armenia, the world will soon see their inner face. The atrocities they commit continue to go unpunished, and as a result of the environment of impunity, the enemy continues its illegal activities with ease. Even today, they do not stop their provocations. These atrocities committed by Armenians against Azerbaijanis for years are covered by the Armenian genocide in their false lobbies. Tragedies such as the Guba mass grave and the Khojaly genocide are clear examples of the policy of Armenians against Azerbaijanis."
