"The departure of the Russian peacekeepers contingent from Karabakh is a historic event, Umud Mirzayev, president of the International Eurasia Press Fund, said in his statement to Ednews.

According to him, the complete withdrawal of the Russian army from the territory of Azerbaijan was reflected in the joint statement signed at the end of 2020:

"However, international observers, experts, those who want us and those who don't want us, were very cautious and skeptical that such an event would happen soon. But as a citizen, as someone who trusts our people, our nation, our army, and the leader of Azerbaijan, I always expected this event to happen. Thank goodness we live in these days. This is also the fact that Russian peacekeepers evaluate the realities and then make a decision. They evaluate the events in the region and the current situation better than anyone else. Because they are in the process, reality, events. They came out of reality and realized that the Russian army had no business left there. There is historical justice and international law. The departure of Russian peacekeepers from Azerbaijan can be considered our next victory after the Second Karabakh War, including ending separatism in Karabakh. 

It should be note that the Russian peacekeeping contingent was temporarily deployed in Karabakh after the tripartite declaration signed between the leaders of Azerbaijan, Russia, and Armenia on November 10, 2020.
