During a panel discussion titled "Building National Capacities for Sustainable Environmental Rehabilitation" at the conference "Mitigating Environmental Impact of Landmines: Resource Mobilization for Safe and Green Future" David Martinez, Analytical Director of Agora Diplomatico, expressed his hopes for the swift clearance of mines from Karabakh, Ednews informs.
Martinez emphasized the urgent need for mine clearance, citing the grave threat they pose to both human life and the environment. He stressed the moral obligation to rid territories of mines and highlighted the vital role of international human rights in this endeavor.
"The international community, along with local societies, must actively engage in demining efforts," Martinez urged, underscoring the transformative potential of demining for affected land and communities.
The remarks were made during the second day of the international humanitarian demining conference in Baku, jointly organized by the Demining Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan (ANAMA) and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).
