“We don’t consider France’s policy in the South Caucasus effective,” Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan - Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration Hikmat Hajiyev told journalists, Ednews informs.
He noted that the policy pursued by France in the region is harmful: “It does not contribute to the advancement of the peace agenda in the South Caucasus.”
He added that France’s implementation of the policy of militarization in the region is a serious blow to the process of normalization of relations between Baku and Yerevan in a situation where serious steps are being taken towards the peaceful transformation of the South Caucasus.
“Therefore, such a policy of militarization on the part of France, especially the provision of offensive lethal weapons to Armenia and the expansion of Armenian-French military cooperation, raises serious concerns. We believe that France, as a permanent member of the UN Security Council, should pursue a more responsible policy,” he said.
