Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky commented on Tuesday on the International Criminal Court's decision to issue arrest warrants against former Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoygu and Chief of Staff Valery Gerasimov, stating that it is a "clear indication that justice for Russian crimes against Ukrainians is inevitable."
Shoygu and Gerasimov are accused of war crimes including excessive harm to civilians, attacks on civilian objects, and harm against humanity. "[The ICC decision] clearly demonstrates that no military rank or cabinet door can shield Russian criminals from accountability," Zelensky said. "We look forward to more arrest warrants in order to deprive Russia of its sense of impunity,"
