Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed his sympathies to Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva following the incident involving a passenger plane that crashed in Vinhedo, Sao Paulo, Brazil.
"Dear Mr. President, please accept our deepest condolences in connection with the tragic consequences of the passenger plane crash in the state of Sao Paulo. We share the grief of the friendly people of Brazil. Please convey words of sincere sympathy and support to those who lost their loved ones in this air crash," the Kremlin posted on Telegram.
The aircraft, an ATR-72-500 operated by Voepass airline, was en route from Cascavel in southern Parana state to Sao Paulo's Guarulhos international airport when it crashed in Vinhedo, killing 57 passengers and four crew. The cause of the crash remains unknown.
