Delivering the opening speech, the head of the Gakh region Executive Power, Musa Shakiliyev, provided information about the essence of the event and emphasized that the conference was of great importance in promoting the realities of West Azerbaijan. Chairman of the WAC Board, deputy of the Milli Majlis, Aziz Alakbarli, spoke about the fact that West Azerbaijanis were deported from their homes in stages and the hardships they experienced during this painful process.
Member of the Milli Majlis Ali Masimli spoke about the determination and desire of Western Azerbaijanis to return to their villages and villages, and spoke about their longing for their homeland.
Member of the Board of Directors, Chairman of the Keshishkend District Community, Professor Mahira Huseynova emphasized the importance of holding the conference in Gakh and its scientific and practical nature. M. Huseynova spoke about the importance of conducting research on the deportations carried out in the historical lands of Azerbaijan, their tangible and intangible cultural heritage for present and future generations.
Then, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors, Member of the Milli Majlis Hikmet Babaoglu emphasized that Western Azerbaijanis were forcibly expelled from their ancestral lands and that they await the day when they will return with great hope and confidence.
Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors, Member of the Milli Majlis Gaya Mammadov spoke about the right of return reflected in international law. He stressed the necessity of returning to Western Azerbaijan and spoke about the aspects of the peaceful, safe and dignified return of people who were forcibly expelled from that region to their native lands.
Speaking at the conference, Shahin Ismayilov, Chairman of the Youth Council of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic and the Youth and Sports Committee of the Milli Majlis, emphasized that young people play an important role in conveying the realities of Western Azerbaijan to a wide audience and are an important link in passing them on from generation to generation.
Chairman of the Women's Council of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, Member of the Milli Majlis, Malahat Ibrahimgizi, touched upon the pain and suffering experienced by women and children during the deportations and stated that, based on international law, this sensitive group should receive special attention during the return process.
Member of the Women's Council of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, Member of the Milli Majlis, Tanzila Rustamkhanli, spoke about her memories of her native lands. She drew attention to the existing double standards regarding Western Azerbaijan and the fact that the right of Western Azerbaijanis to return is ignored by some circles.
Telli Aliyeva, Deputy Chairperson of the Women's Council of the community, expressed the homesickness of Western Azerbaijani women and touched upon the literary heritage that was damaged as a result of deportations.
