An award ceremony was held at the Caucasus University in Kars, Türkiye, for the winners of an essay competition titled “The Role of Youth in Informing the International Community about Armenian Crimes in Anatolia.”
According to EDnews, the event was organized by the Kars Society for Combating Baseless Armenian Allegations and took place in one of the university’s faculty buildings.
In his speech, Professor Yaşar Kop, Director of the Institute of Social Sciences at the university, drew attention to the tragic events that occurred during the final years of the Ottoman Empire. He noted that the violent actions and provocations by Armenian armed groups in various parts of Anatolia forced the Ottoman government to relocate Armenians to other regions of the empire.
He emphasized that pro-Armenian circles abroad are currently distorting historical facts and using these events to pressure Türkiye.In exposing this false propaganda, youth have a crucial responsibility in defending our nation’s rights and interests,” he stated. “While Armenian youth are raised with hatred toward Turks, we must ensure they learn the historical truth.
Mehmet Tekel, head of the Kars Society for Combating Baseless Armenian Allegations, also spoke about Armenian crimes in Anatolia, pointing to irrefutable archival evidence of the destruction of numerous Muslim villages, mosques, and cemeteries in Eastern Anatolia by Armenians. He proposed the establishment of a Museum of Turkic Peoples’ Genocide in Kars.
Zamin Aliyev, Azerbaijan’s Consul General in Kars, stressed the importance of organizing events focused on regional history and urged young people to learn lessons from the past.The event was also attended by the acting rector of Caucasus University, Professor Selçuk Ural, representatives of political parties, and public figures in Türkiye.
