The Space Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan Azercosmos plans to sign approximately 20 cooperation documents, including around 10 Memorandums of Understanding, during the Space Technology Conference held in Baku. This was announced by the agency’s Acting Chairman of the Board, Dunay Badirkhanov, during a press briefing.
Badirkhanov emphasized that these agreements aim to promote the peaceful and scientific use of space and to expand Azerbaijan’s collaborations with various countries in the space sector. He particularly highlighted the growing cooperation with China in this field.
EDnews informs that, the conference brings together over 400 participants representing 112 organizations from 35 countries, discussing topics such as “Earth Observation for Sustainable Regional Development,” “Innovation and Investment in the Space Industry,” and “Small-Scale Satellites.”
Additionally, Azercosmos is preparing to launch next-generation satellite systems that will offer high-precision Earth observation, next-generation telecommunications services, and enhanced regional connectivity. The agency is also exploring opportunities for joint international missions with partners in Türkiye and other countries.
Azercosmos places particular emphasis on cooperation with member states of the Organization of Turkic States. In this context, the 4th meeting of the heads of space agencies and relevant authorities of Organization Turkic States.member and observer states was held in Baku. Discussions included the development of the CubeSat project, the establishment on a unified space legal framework, and the proposal to institutionalize a “Turkic World Space Conference.”
Badirkhanov stated that these initiatives align with Azerbaijan’s National Space Strategy and the recently enacted “Law on Space Activities,” reflecting the country’s commitment to international space collaboration.
