The leader of the Social Democratic Party Antti Rinne, 56, was sworn in as prime minister and will lead a small 18-minister cabinet with a female majority.

The five-party coalition has a comfortable 117-seat majority in the 200-seat Parliament but could face political cohesion challenges.

One minister, Annika Saariko, will carry on from the government and move from overseeing family affairs and to heading the science and culture ministry.

The chair of the Swedish People’s Party, Anna-Maja Henriksson, will be the new Justice Minister, while the leader of the Left Alliance, Li Andersson, will be the new Education Minister.
