In the coming days, Azerbaijan will launch extensive reforms in the field of activity of information and communication, media, Eurasia Diary reports citing APA.
It is planned to establish a new institution with wider powers and scope of activities on the basis of the Fund of the State Support for Development of Mass Media under the President of Azerbaijan (FSSDMM).
Besides that, it is expected to review the legislation regulating the media and adopt a new law on the media. The draft law will be submitted to the Milli Majlis next month.
Earlier, experts were noting that the media, which entered a period of rapid development in early 2000, is now in a state of stagnation. The existing legislation does not comply with the realities of the new era and does not cover the changes in the field of communications over the past 20 years. This led to a chaotic situation in both online and social media.
It is expected that the measures to be implemented in the coming period will lead to encouraging the development of media, to improve the activity in this field, wide application of modern standards.
