This statement came from H.E Lieutenant General Moazzam Ejaz, engineer in Chief of Pakistani Army, while sharing his comments with Ednews about Pakistan’s role in support to the demining process in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan.
He said that Pakistan has strong experience and capability in the elimination of mine fields.
"Yesterday we went to Aghdam and other areas of the Karabakh region. We have seen devastation, ruins of cities and dangerous mine fields in these areas. I think that Pakistan can help the government of Azerbaijan and Azerbaijani people to struggle with mine problems, because we have a lot of experience in demining operations for twenty five years".
Pakistani General also touched upon Pakistan's offer to the government of Azerbaijan about holding training to enhance the activities of the demining process in the liberated territories. .
"Last year we visited Aghdam and held a discussion with Baku about how to conduct an effective demining operation in the Karabakh region. We offered ANAMA and the government to hold training and participation in the demining operation in Karabakh. Pakistan remains committed to help Azerbaijani brothers to promote demining operations.
Moazzam Ejaz added that Pakistan can also share its experience with Azerbaijan in many other aspects of mine threat, explosive ordnance, especially war against terrorism.
It should be noted that an international conference entitled "Humanitarian Demining Activities and Sustainable Development Goals" took place in Baku yesterday.
The main issues on the agenda included improving cooperation mechanisms to intensify global demining efforts, joint participation of government agencies, the international community, the private sector and civil society in this process, the application of best practices, innovative methods and technological innovations.
In total, the event was attended by about 120 participants from 30 countries, including the United Kingdom, Serbia, Switzerland, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Angola, Cambodia, Jordan, Sudan and others. Among the participants were members of foreign parliaments, representatives of international organisations and embassies.
